History of the Vauxhall Mokka

The Vauxhall Mokka was first introduced in 2012, and it was designed to be a small SUV - perfect for city driving.

First Generation 2012 - 2016

The first model became very popular, selling around 600,000 cars just across Europe alone.

Second Generation 2016 - 2020

In 2016, Vauxhall released the next generation, the Mokka X. This model had updated looks and much better technology, including an updated navigation system, making it even more appealing. For instance, it included features like a touchscreen display and improved safety systems, which were state-of-the-art at the time.

This model then sold equally well, with 125,000 cars sold in the United Kingdom alone during this time.

Third Generation - 2021 - Present

The latest version of the Mokka came out in early 2021, bringing the latest technology features and limited editions to the front with a beautiful and modern design as well.

Exterior Design

When you look at the Mokka front, apart from its new bold exterior design, the first thing that you will notice is its more muscular style and clearly innovative design, which really sets it apart from other small SUVs in its class.

Front Grille & Visor

The unique front grille and signature vizor flow around the LED headlights, giving it a solid yet well-balanced shape, with the eye-catching alloy wheels further adding to its lively appearance.

Rear

If you follow this flowing shape to the rear and the rear window, you will notice the enhanced LED tail lights, which really do look good from any angle, along with the rear parking sensors to help you when parking.

At the rear, the Mokka features slim, high-tech LED taillights that complement the front design, providing a cohesive and polished look. The integrated roof spoiler not only adds to the sporty aesthetic but also improves aerodynamics.

Roofline

Thanks to a selection of roof and body colours and window accent colours on GS Line models as well, you can design your own Mokka and make it stand out how you truly want it to.

For instance, added style, Mokka-e models also offer the option of a black bonnet to match the black roof, or you can also choose from a selection of roof colours, such as:

  • Black Bonne
  • Black Roof
  • Red Roof
  • White Roof

Exterior Paint Colours

As we all know, the outside colour is an integral part of your Mokka's character, and Vauxhall have made it easy for you to pick a colour that matches your style.

In terms of exterior paint colours, for instance, you have 1 of 6 to choose from, including:

Diamond Black Two-coat metallic paint
Jade White Brilliant paint
Mamba Green Premium metallic paint
Power Red Premium metallic paint
Quartz Grey Two-coat metallic paint
Voltaic Blue Two-coat metallic paint

Body Styling Kits

You can then enhance the appearance of your Mokka even more with a stylish black or white roof and bonnet decals, and if you want to also add some tough-looking side steps and chrome tyre valve caps to finish the look, with Vauxhalls purpose-designed and built dedicated body styling kit.

For instance, for the exterior, this includes:

  • Exterior door mirror covers
  • 18-inch diamond-cut, bi-colour alloy wheels
  • Wheel clips and centre caps

There are also interior styling add-ons available with this kit, including:

  • Interior rear-view mirror covers
  • Aluminium pedal covers for both manual and automatic cars

Interior

The Mokka's interior is also different from the rest, with a fresh and stylish design and lots of clever features. For instance, we noticed that the GS Line model has subtle red details both outside and inside.

Comfort

When looking at the interior, it is also not just about appearance; it's also about what comfort features you get.

With features like electronic climate control, leather seats, heated front seats, and a driver massage option, you will honestly feel relaxed and refreshed when you arrive and during your journey alike.

Stylish Design

To be honest, we thought that the Vauxhall Mokka had a modern and sleek interior. The dashboard is well-organised and easy to navigate, and a mix of soft-touch materials and glossy finishes all around gives it a more premium-level feel.

Pure Panel Technology

The Mokka also comes with Vauxhall's Pure Panel technology, which makes driving simpler and more user-friendly.

The sleek design provides all the information you need. There is an infotainment touchscreen up to 10 inches wide and another 12-inch screen directly in front of you, helping you keep your eyes on the road. Plus, with smartphone projection, you can stay connected to the people who matter most.

Infotainment System

What is clear when you get inside is that at the heart of the Mokka's interior is its infotainment system.

This features a large touchscreen display that is very responsive and easy to use. It also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth Connectivity, and a DAB Radio—all to keep you connected and entertained.

Space and Practicality

Despite its compact size, the Vauxhall Mokka provides plenty of space for you, your passengers, and your luggage. For instance, in terms of ample legroom, there is enough legroom for adults in both the front and back seats, meaning both you and your loved ones can enjoy family time in the car on long journeys without feeling squashed while you do so. With the rear seats up, there are up to 350 litres of boot space, giving you plenty of payload capacity. You will have more than enough for your shopping trips or suitcases. Plus, if you need more, the rear seats can also be folded down to create you even more space as well.

Seats

The seats are also very comfy to sit on, as they are firm enough but also very ergonomically designed to provide you with an excellent level of support; whether you are driving around town or on a long road trip, you will be more than comfortable.

Comfort Features

For comfort, the Mokka really does come packed full of features that enhance your comfort, from Climate Control to maintain the perfect temperature inside the car, no matter the weather outside, to Heated Seats and Steering Wheel and electronically Adjustable Seats to help you find your ideal driving position and feel the warmth even in the middle of winter.

Engines

When it comes to the Mokka's engines, you can choose a petrol or diesel engine for excellent efficiency and power when you need it, all the way up to a fully electric one as well.

The GS Line models even offer enhanced sound. If you go fully electric, you can travel up to 209 miles on a single charge, and quick charging will get you back on the road quickly with no compromises.

Charging

The Mokka-e is now also here to make a big difference while also reducing your running costs at the same time, as it combines the well-known SUV driving experience with a fully electric engine.

Consequently, it is fun to drive, easy to own, and available for everyone, all while making life a bit simpler and much more exciting than before.

Electric Power

The all-electric Mokka-e also gives you quick power and speed right when you need it, going from 0 to 60 mph in just 9.2 seconds.

Driving Modes

Plus, you can choose different driving modes based on how you feel and the road conditions. Sport mode makes driving more exciting, while Eco mode helps you go further on a single charge.

Managing Your Range

With the Mokka as well you can also make each charge last longer with a few simple tips we found useful, such as driving gently and carrying less weight, which will help as it requires less power drawn from the battery.

You can also look to avoid harsh road conditions, using the climate control too much, and using the braking mode less often. Using the highest regenerative braking system to recoup as much power back into the battery as possible will also help you go much further.

Preconditioning and Warming Up

The Mokka also comes with preconditioning, meaning that you can set the climate control to warm up the car while it’s still charging to get the most range from the battery.

Charging Options

In regards to charging, you can charge your all-electric Mokka-e anywhere – at a specially designed wall box, a public charging station, or even just at home.

When you are out and about, a rapid DC quick charger can give you another 130 miles in just 30 minutes. At home, a wall box (7kW) will fully charge your car in 7.5 hours - perfect for overnight charging, especially.

Safety and Driver Assistance

When it comes to safety tech, you can get your Mokka fully equipped with all the latest features, such as:

Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection

This clever system helps avoid low-speed rear-end collisions by automatically braking if it senses a potential impact, and it will also brake to protect pedestrians who’ve walked in your path as well.

Forward Collision Alert

With Forward Collision Alert, if there is a slow or stationary car upfront, then the FCA system will spot it and let you know immediately - giving you plenty of warning time to hit the brakes.

Lane Departure Warning

The lane departure warning system then gives you a gentle nudge to the steering wheel - and an audio alert - if you start drifting out of your lane.

Speed Sign Recognition

This advanced sign-detection system will pick up and display speed limits and other essential traffic signs – even temporary ones so you won't have to worry about the speed limit of the road you are on if you miss it.

Advanced Park Assist

Suppose you are trying to get into a tricky space. In that case, switch to advanced park assist and watch the system find you a space, alert you and steer you in automatically for you.

Driver Drowsiness Alert

The intelligent driver drowsiness system uses sensors to keep an eye out and warn you if you show signs of tiredness, giving you time to pull over and take a break.

Panoramic Rear View Camera

The rear-view camera also makes it easy to avoid pedestrians, bumps and scratches when you back in and out of tight parking spaces.

Keyless Entry and Start

The Mokka also comes with Keyless entry, which is activated as you approach.

By doing so, the doors unlock automatically, and the engine is turned on by pressing the start button, making it simple to get going.

Is the Mokka Good as a Motability Car?

If you are considering this car for Motability, the Vauxhall Mokka honestly makes an excellent choice for the Motability scheme due to it being able to offer you a very comfortable and accessible car, with many features.

As part of the Motability Scheme, it offers a range of adaptations to suit various needs, ensuring an inclusive driving experience for people with disabilities.

Accessibility

For instance, we found that because Mokka's design includes wide-opening doors and a higher seating position, making it easier to get in and out of, it is particularly beneficial for those with limited mobility as well.

Its spacious interior also ensures that both you - the driver - and your passengers have ample room to sit comfortably.

Adaptations

Through the Motability Scheme, various adaptations can also be made to the Mokka to suit your individual requirements. These include hand controls, pedal modifications, and swivel seats, ensuring that the car meets your specific needs as well.

With buying a new car, you also get it covered under warranty, which includes a 3-year vehicle warranty consisting of a one-year / unlimited mileage manufacturer’s warranty and a second and third-year manufacturer’s warranty with a 60,000-mile limitation.
